Wisteria pruning

End of January is time to prune your wisteria to promote better flowering in the spring. This one hadnt been touched in years, was growing through the roof tiles and hadnt flowered in 17 years. It took me 8 hrs to peel it away from the house, untangle the leaders and re-apply it to the house. it exploded with flowers in the spring.

Note the horizontal training of the leaders on the side of the house – this promotes greater flowering and also much easier to manage once youve got it like this.#

If you want any more tips or hints around the garden, leave a note here. Nick
