There are a great number of mulches to put on your borders to keep the weeds down and make it more attractive. This garden (pictured) is one I’ve been looking after for about 6 years. They decided this year that they finally wanted to bark it to make it look better. Normally I end using the ornamental bark from J Arthur Bowers, which is really nice but flipping expensive.
The Chipping’s I used here are much smaller and don’t have the distinctive coating you would normally expect. However, they are cut much smaller and have a very aesthetic natural colouring which I really like. Fortunately, so did my customers. £60 for the bulk bag which in volume was equivalent to at least 19 bags of the normal stuff (@ £5 a go). Functional and good value for money. What more could anyone ask.
Let me know what your favourite decorative finishing touches are to your borders.
